I first played Mah Jongg decades ago, and liked the game very much. In 2008 (give or take a year or two), a Games Meetup in Boston offered an opportunity for beginners to learn the game. I was fortunate to have a great teacher that evening, and happily found that I still loved Mah Jongg! When we moved to Pittsburgh, I started a Mah Jongg meetup which has proven to be very successful. I have played many (many!) games, and have taught scores of players how to play.
I offer beginner lessons and Mah Jongg 102 (exploring the card and working on selecting hands). I teach beginner lessons at the Tuesday Meetup in Bakery Square, and also enjoy teaching private classes.
My teaching style is friendly and supportive. Mah Jongg is a wonderful game… and when I introduce you to Mah Jongg, I want you to love the game as much as I do!
I love Mah Jongg. My grandmother taught me to play when I was a teenager and my passion for it has only grown over the years. I now teach the game to others and I ran my first Pittsburgh Area Mah Jongg tournament last year in 2018.
I grew up in Massachusetts and moved to Pittsburgh to attend Carnegie Mellon University. I now lives in the South Hills of Pittsburgh and my twin boys and husband are very supportive of my Mah Jongg obsession.
Teaching Mah Jongg and seeing the enjoyment people get from playing this wonderful game brings me joy.
